So, now that I've been here for just about a month, I feel like I've got a pretty good feel for the place, and I really like it! I've tried blogs on other sites in the past and it just didn't work out. Probably because I set my expectations a little too high. So now I'm setting the bar really low. I'm not expecting anyone to read these, but I felt like sharing anyway.
I'm Cliff, and I like music. I can't read it. I can't sing. I can't play an instrument. And I DEFINITELY can't dance or keep rhythm to save my life. But I do like picking up my iPod and hitting shuffle, and I also like being exposed to artists I might not have stumbled upon by myself. That's why I think Pandora is amazing. I've been a member since 2005, but I hadn't really used it a lot until I got my first real full-time job this past November.
I blew threw my 40 free hours in one week (naturally), and was super bummed. I decided to go ahead and take the $36 plunge to subscribe for a year (right around the same time I decided to take the $48 plunge for a year here. Two awesome decisions! Go me!), and it's worked out great. It fills gaps in my day with some much needed notes, and it not only introduces me to new artists and songs, but also re-introduces me to things I'd forgotten I liked or never knew the title of. It's almost heaven until I'm abruptly reminded I'm at work when someone dumps a stack of papers on my desk to copy or shred.
Anyway, I think I'm going to keep a semi-regular blog where I share the playlists Pandora gives me. This is partially because I don't like keeping stuff to myself, and partially so I can remember some of the awesome tunes Pandora churns out so I can remember to download them. I also just find them fascinating. Much like how some people gauge other peoples' perceptions of them based on Netflix or TiVo recommendations, I use Pandora. For instance, Pandora seems to believe I love the band Journey. I've never thumbsed up (new verb) any of their tracks, but today I sat through no fewer than three in a span of a couple hours. It's just interesting.
I was all set to share today, but I forgot to e-mail myself the playlist because I was sent home early. I was stoked, but then my boss just said, "This is only because tomorrow is going to be horrible." So...yay?
I hope I remember to post tomorrow.
Until next time
