We all know that the pet industry is a cruel business - but if everyone realised just HOW cruel, nobody who cared about animals enough to want to keep one as a pet would get their animals from a huge pet store chain, like, oh I don't know - PetSmart.

I have been keeping rats and other small animals for over ten years. I understand what they're capable of feeling. And this short movie had me in tears.

These tiny creatures are as defenceless as children - if not more so because they're so small. Completely at the mercy of the humans who force-breed them for profit, only to treat them so appallingly it's amazing they survive long enough to make it to the PetSmart outlets in the first place.

This movie is less than five minutes long. Please watch it - and please don't buy from PetSmart. There are so many unwanted little creatures in rescue shelters - or if you specifically want a baby there are a lot of devoted individuals who take pride in breeding happy, healthy baby animals themselves.
