so here in the wonderful world of starbucks, managemant has mandated that we must ask the name of every single customer. apparently someone read one of those lame pop-psycology business books, and decided being on a first name basis with our customers will make them trust us more, and buy more crap. keep in mind that i deal with about 400 customers every day, and there is no way i am going to remember all of their names. so all this policy has done is slow down service, creep people out, and make me look like an idiot as i ask a regular customer their name for the seventh time in as many days. i wish corporate types who come up with these brilliant ideas could just work in my store for one day to see how well their policies actually work. i guess that is what i get for working for the man, but geez, let a girl keep a little of her self-respect, please!
