Feeling better today. Work has made me a little spastic though. I have been rewriting and formatting recipes for a cookbook and various demos and events we are doing around the country. I have four seperate ones with 3-5 recipes each that I am working on right now. 2 main problems: 1. (my fault) I keep getting a bit confused about what recipe and email goes where-no screw ups yet, but it makes the whole process a lot longer as I am always triple checking everything; 2. (not my fault)
Chef-"Write up the jalapeno remoulade recipe"
Me-"OK"
Me-"Umm, where is the origial that I am supposed to be working from?"
(note:the originals are often post-its with things like '1 chix, 2 tom, 3 jal fry' written on them. and from this I have to write a full and proper recipe. sometimes they make it into the computer, but they still aren't formatted.)
Chef-"Where it says jalapeno in the cookbook file (dumbass-he doesn't say it, but I can feel him think it)"
Me-"No, did you put it somewhere else?"
Chef-"Do I have to do everything around here? Look, it is right there!"
Me-"But Chef, that says grilled scallion"
Chef-"Well for this event we are calling it jalapeno."
Makes perfect sense. Don't know how I ever got confused. I must be a moron for not reading your mind.
I really like my Chef. I really like my job. I even kind of like the stress, in that I feel very accomplished when I complete somthing. And as down as I get sometimes, it is never about work (or about my personal life. stupid brain chemicals). But I always have 5 minutes or so every afternoon where I just freak the fuck out.
