Hello hello!
As promised, get ready for a much too large blog about my trip to Maui!
I know it seems a little late, but I promise I have been trying so hard to get this journal written for the last 2 months! I've already had it done and ready to post over and over and over, and each time the website has encountered some glitch that keeps me from being able to post! ToT
But either way, here it is!
I'm going to try to make this as easy to look at as possible, so I'll try hard to keep the showing ratio much higher than the telling!
Here we go!
Venom's Maui Adventure
(part 1 of 2)
DAY 1
The first day doesn't hold much for me to tell. Aside from Odin trying to sneak into my carry on:
Managing to take advantage of the extra seating on the plane and spending most of the 5 hours sprawled completely out in the middle row of three chairs, which was handy, seeing as how I was going off 1 hour of sleep thanks to working the night prior.. (I had a hunch that sunglasses chick wasn't too impressed that I had the idea first)
West Maui, flying in. Only half of the island.
First jump into the ocean!
The first day we had to see at least 4, maybe 5 rainbows. This one we chased up into the Maui Grown Coffee fields for an unreal photo op!
DAY 2
Our first full day exploring the island, and spent cruising with some of my favorite people, @jessytai and Perry Rhodes.
Merpup tracks found on the beach on the Northside of the island.
Breaksfast at Paia Bay Coffee, THE breakfast spot almost every day. Also yes, that is MY killer Jeep in the background. ^_^ If you're going to Jurassic Park, you have to be in a Jeep.
The most beautiful setting to have a ranch I think.
After trying a few snorkel spots out, we landed in this little patch of beach. The kapu signs were in English and very unofficial, so we ignored and headed in.
After swimming around for some time, I was trying to take some footage of my friend swimming next to me, when they started flailing and pointing! When I finally understood what the commotion was about I saw these two giant ghosts soaring through the water around us. It was incredible. Manta rays are so other worldly. It gave me chills watching them and diving down with them. I still think that when I dove down and stopped moving, breathing, and just sat still I could hear whales calling out.
Also, there are chickens every where on the island. *cough, cough* @exning
We ended up setting up to watch the sunset at a little black-ish sand beach near Makena Bay. This pup was killing me! Playing fetch with a coconut she found. She was so lovely and sweet, I could have sat and played with her for hours!
DAY 3-4
This marks our stay in Hana. It was by far the most amazing experience. The most gorgeous landscape, the best beaches, and the most incredible roadside fruit, cookies, banana/pineapple breads, and flowers!!
Rainbow Eucalyptus!!!!
Wainapanapa by far my favorite beach. We stopped there on the drive into Hana and swam, then made a point to make it the sunrise destination the morning after. The sand isn't sand. It's like little river rocks, ranging in size from 2 inches across down to the size of a pin head depending on where on the shore they are. It was amazing.
Red Sand Nude Beach was amazing. Thee contrast between the earthy reds and the insane teals of the water were breathtaking. Plus, being able to swim around nude without judgment or being sneaky is so wonderful!
I can't remember the name of this beach, but it was on the way out of Hana Town and one of the best body surfing beaches I've every been to! The water was so clear, I never wanted to leave!
The Seven Sacred Pools was gorgeous, the pools are on the lower end, near the ocean, but the hike up towards the mountains, about 2 miles, was worth every second. Pushing through forests of bamboo and giant banyan trees, over looking water falls and streams. It was insane.
^where's waldo?
The drive back was breathtaking.
I'm sorry there are so many of these! I couldn't help it! The landscapes were so lovely!
