ok, so i totally, and inadvertantly lied about finishing my last journal entry. Maybe i'll actually finish this one!
So, i havent really been around alot in the past week...and the same is gonna follow for this week.
This past week, i've been on another Fallout 2 kick. Once i start playing it again, i can't stop until i've suck every last experience point out of my game. It is, by far, my favorite RPG computer game ever. Anyone who likes any computer games other than first-person shooters: go to wal-mart/target/best buy/where ever and buy Fallout 2 now.
And now that I'm weening myself off Fallout, I've gotten a cold. and it really couldnt have come at a worse time. Which brings me to why I won't be here next week. I'm going to be...errm...busy...in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It's my girlfriend's birthday on Sunday. So I'm spending the week at her house. She's totally afraid that i'm not going to do anything but lay on the couch all week, and be sick...but it's just a cold, I can make it. Besides, i spent most of today in the hot sun, setting up for the Morgan State University graduation ceremony. If I can do that with a cold, i can certainly walk around downtown Ann Arbor. Besides, Bubble Island bubble tea is waaaaay better that the junk we have in the malls down here. So i have to be up at least for that.
The cicadas are/were supposed to really start this week. I'm kinda disappointed, i haven't seen one so far. Not that I'm complaining...I'm ascared of bugs...especially huge, demonic looking ones with googlie red eyes...especially swarms of them. Still though, ya know...morbid curiosity.
Guitar Center rules. I went there to buy a hard case for my acoustic guitar, and a jack plate to fix my electric. And i did...and I also got 12 packs of strings, a slide, and a set of spiffy rockabilly dice strap buttons...all free. They were trying to get rid of it. Guitar Center rules.
Im running out of interesting (or not) things for this week. Bought a few news cds. If you're into jazz, check out Nnenna Freelon. We did a jazz festival at the inner harbor last weekend. She was the last act, and the only one I caught. Great reditions of "If I Only Had A Brain" and "Tears Of A Clown", amoung many others.
Machinae Supremacy finally has their album out. i've been semi-pimping them here. They're a Swedish heavy rock act, heavily inspired by video games. Lots of neat synths and things...i'm a totally sucker for synths. So, yeah, check them out too.
And I finally found a decent place to buy Leningrad Cowboys CDs and stuff. At the aptly-named, yet unaffiliated Lenin Imports.
The Leningrad Cowboys are a crazy band from Finland...that like to pretend they're Russian....that does alot of covers of American standards, like Sweet Home Alabama, Stairway To Heaven, These Boots Are Made For Walking, LA Woman, and Those Were The Days, just to name a few. They do most of these songs with the Red Army Ensemble and the Red Army Choir. Honestly, you haven't lived until you've heard Stairway with a huge Russian chorus behind it. They also have the pointiest hair, biggest shoes, and craziest outfits of and band I've ever seen. They're legendary in Finland...they even had their own beer! Won't you silly Americans at least give them a shot?
Yes, all singular/plural grammar goes out the window when you're talking about bands! That's according to the rules that...I just made up!
Looks like I've tried to make up for my last entry, by making this one crazy-long and unreadable. Oh well...at least i have my spiffy new Killer Klowns icon I made !
