I don't watch wrestling, usually. It's just something that I got out of. I watched it during the 80's, thrilled to the Main Event on Saturday Nights...kept it up until things got out of hand and a little boring. So much for wrestling, I figured.
Fast forward to my time in Oakville. Life is pretty dull, not getting many kicks...and my friends around here are pretty hardcore wrestling fans. ECW types (and for those of you that are ECW fans and are reading this, it's pretty obvious as to how hardcore you guys can get). Guys into insane spectacles, guys that are into real wrestling matches, guys that understand the psychology and sport of the matches themselves. I admit, once you start to get it, the matches take on a new dimension.
So I watched RAW tonight with these guys. Me, the occasinal viewer, hanging out with the hardcore guys.
And it was really, really hard. There were superstars there that were broken up over Eddie Guerrero's untimely death, and it was at once shocking and endearing to realize how much this man meant to all of them. It's tragic, through and through. And the more I learn about the man, the more I realize that I missed out...and that's sad.
Eddie Guerrero a really great wrestler. A loveable heel, just watching highlights from his career make me want to learn more about him. it's amazing how infectious his charm can be.
And strangely enough, through his passing I'm learning more about the other wrestlers out there, the ones that have some serious talent and skill (Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit...and tons more) that go out there and entertain. My curiousity is piqued and I think I'm becoming a fan again, much to my surprise.
So I guess I just wanna say that I miss Eddie, and I'm glad that I have something more to look forward to nowadays.
