No food, no water, no drink, nothing. I feel as though my body's been washed ashore and like my cheeks are scraping the sand. The water laps at my legs, soaking my ripped jeans...

How long was I adrift? How long?

Looking up, I realize that it's midday. The sun is high overhead, beating down on me...my head hurts. Something must have happened.

Upon closer...

I just went through what's possibly two years of old illustration work for my impending website redesign. I had no idea that there was just soooo much shit that I've done...it's a little scary going through it all.

Now the next few days are basically going to be all about trimming, cropping...all that crap. But basically going through all this stuff...seeing what's good. Seeing what...

I honestly don't take compliments very well.
But i do appreciate the fact that you think i have the spirit of an artist biggrin
I think perhaps we are both a little hard on ourselves.
Our own worst critics?
For years i listened to rumor after rumor regarding who would play Edie...in the film.
And yet, the film never came.
The tragedy to me is that she did possess some talent to a certain degree....drawing, sculpting, etc.
I always felt that had she gotten her shit together, she very well could have been quite the supermodel of her time.
Much more beautiful than Twiggy, and very relaxed in front of the camera.
I don't know who the hell in hollywood could play her!
And i think the years before her death....she actually wanted to get better, and was somewhat craving some type of "Normalcy" in her life. Is that even a word? well, you know what i mean.
I love the book, because it could have been written as some cheap flamboyant bio on some 60's chick, who hung out with the fast crowd and lived life a bit too dangerously.

And yet, the book made her very real, a human with a lot of flaws, but a real zest for life, and a much bigger heart than most would expect.

I need the Warriors soundtrack...nothing gets me in the mood to go kick ass at work than the opening theme song. Go figure.

"Edie" was one of my favorite books when i was younger.
I got a chance to meet George Plimpton (Who was the editor) when i lived in new york, and i told him how brilliant i thought the book was surreal
The ending still makes me a little weepy.
Do you remember how it ends?

There's something slightly surreal (alliteration! go me!) about watching Dune at 7 am. I don't know what it is, but there's something awkward about it...thinking about Guild members folding space while other people are just having their morning bagels.

Anyways.

I've decided that the morning routine isn't for me. It just doesn't compute. I woke up at 3 am and realized exactly what I had...

That and the fact that while munching on Thanksgiving leftovers the day after Thanksgiving, I'm peering out out the window to notice the neighbors hauling out the Christmas lawn decor. Nice.

So although technically I've been working the same as I usually do (ie. all the freakin' time), the past month has seen a huge outpouring of single illustrations. I guess considering the rate at which I put work out there, it makes a lot of sense for me to be able to pump illustrations out at a pretty good rate!

Anyways, there's a series that...

Waterbead by Redshift (from the album Splashdown)

He's imagining
That he's a tiny waterbead
Rolling at a gentle speed
See her showering
With all the shiny waterbeads
Rolling off her bending knee
He's imagining
Collecting curiousity
Does she pray or does she tease?
See her flowering
With seeds of possibility
Inside his imaginings...
See her shattering
The image of her piety
Just above his bending...

Man...tonight's the first time I've been back home before 5 am in a while...kind of a surprise, that. In a way it's nice...I forgot how nice and quiet my home can be, and how peaceful it is when you just wanna chill.

For the next few days I'll be working on the computer...hoooooo-ray! Nothing but me, photoshop, illustrator, and cups n' cups o' coffee. Mm...

well, smack my ass and call me Siouxsie, screw amazon, I found LFL at my local comic shop tonight, staring right at me from the new release shelf, weeehoo! I found 1, 3 & 4, and they're ordering 2 for me.

but V, where are all the tentacle monsters?!? biggrin wink

seriously, the "really okay guy crippled by slight xenophobia and not getting laid enough" coupled with the melodrama (and song and dance routines, hee!) makes for some hilarious opportunities in both dialogue and depiction. Excellent book, bro.
