I'm playing favourites today, so don't hold it against me. Mwa ha ha!

What is it about glasses that makes people just so awesome?

Is it because they frame the eyes, help bring out the notion that perhaps this or that person perceives more than your average joe? Does it have something to do with just communicating an idea like, "I really mean this," or...

There was a thread asking to share something beautiful. This was too long for a contribution, and if it is found beautiful by all, I'd much rather share it with everyone...so here goes:

I read a lot of comics, but this passage here is by far my favourite. It's taken from V for Vendetta, by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. I transcribe this here...

Glad you reposted it. Powerful stuff.
darke:
Best to just drop it in the pond watch the ripples. Doubt is for the masses, conviction Divine. biggrin

I'm a fucking moron. I hadn't seen any footage of the disaster until right now.

This is the worst thing I've ever seen...and now the Zangief thing doesn't seem so funny anymore.
darke:
Good book. Alan's writing is second to none.
darke:
yeah, I noticed it was suddenly vanished.

And the new rule is this:

Absolutely...positively...no more than two hours on this thing. At first I thought it was the chat that was addictive, now I think it's the message boards...it's all not true! I just have idle hands and I love talking! Arrrrrgh!

Deadline approaches
Fear tickles my spine
editor's wrath
balls busted

Now I really gotta go!

To recap, I'm drawing a romance comic. This is a romantic comedy, much in the vein of...I dunno. Some romantic comedy.

Originally I chose this project to a)excorcise some demons and confront some fears about love, relationships and the opposite sex, and b)to actually do a project that I can show teenagers that don't like violence, sex or drugs. Or sci-fi.

Today I got through...

Yeah, it is, but I'm working on the computer so I can justify it to myself.

And hmm, a creators' group...I wonder.
mck:
Yeah, it was a big old load of text. smile

There's a new pic folder in my...pics, I guess. It's an insightful look into how I truly work when I'm at a convention. Please note the uneaten food, the cigarettes, and numerous caffeinated beverages to my left (all donations, strangely!). Enjoy!

Man that sandwich, or whatever's in the foil, looks tasty. And I can't see through foil!

You've got some great fingers, man. Ever played piano? The drawing you're working on looks cool too.

I'm fucking irritating. I gotta learn to chill the fuck out.

I'll be out most of tomorrow at the Canadian National Comic Book Expo. If you're in the city, drop $20 and shop til you drop. Good fun, if you dig that sorta stuff...

...and if you don't, you can always visit the Rue Morgue stuff. They've got the cool, they do. Woot woot!

I think I understand now what it takes for me to actually sit my ass down to work...not so much anger, so much as it is to get the fuck away from my computer. I'm a chat room addict.

In other news, I'm reading the Gunslinger for the millionth time because I just finished off Zodiac. If anyone out there has some recommendations, this would...

Hehe biggrin alienz recommended Aldous Huxley's Perception to me on the message boards...that was really cool of him! And I think you're right...Chuck Palahniuk would be a good kickstart to an otherwise dreary literary life. Read Fight Club (natch), so Choke would be good...

I was thinking about picking up some J.D. Salinger books, but I thought it would be a lot like retreading old ground, y'know? And reading Fractal's wish list reminded me of Arthur Rimbaud...

I forgot how lit. I used to want to be...this place rules!
terrakotta:
biggrin

Is it no coincidence that Menthos are Canadian? Maybe I'm just assuming they are Canadian, since everyone seems so happy in the commercials tongue

ps: I am taking your advice if a cop detains me, but you're paying the bail if it flops!

K, I gotta start this off like, I know nothing about the States. I know Manhattan rocks, I know San Diego has beaches, and that Bethesda, MD is a trifle boring.

But MAN. I have no clue what happens at all in Arizona. I don't even know what it looks like. For all I know, it's like...hardpan, sand and guns from what people tell me....

Don't do it man! Resist the Bush voodoo, or you might become hypnotized into voting for a moronic Republican like so many of my kin last election! Savor your health insurance!

I too have felt drawn to the Southwest, although I would rather go to New Mexico. The only thing that keeps me from indulging in that fantasy is the fact that I would feel claustrophobic without the ocean border. You should visit! Wait until fall though; I hear it's over 100 degrees in Phoenix right now.

Man...you know what would totally rock? Coffee-flavoured adrenaline shots. That would be fucking AWESOME.

I'm somnambulant today. More later.

I just noticed you list Night Court as a favorite tv show... just added to TV Land late nights! And there's a back-to-back movie fest of Adam Sandler on USA this week if you get the channel. I am an American Girl, just over the border in New England. But I watched Degrassi Junior High and Kids in the Hall in my youth, does that score me some Maple Leaf points? biggrin
vaux:
Baby, you get tons of maple leaf points just for being nice. Wait 'til you see what you can redeem them for!
