Hi all.
Let me first apologise for my relative absence from the site.
My first week of school has gotten my guts in a twist. I have SOOOO much more work than last term with far tougher coursework being given out. Maths related to engineering is terror-inducing!
On top of school commitments, I have:
- To find a new room/house to move into by 21st March.
- To find an Internship in the US and get it handed in before February ends.
- Debt collectors in Sweden after me because of bills not getting redirected to me quickly or competently enough. In Sweden, this is bad because the law is behind the debt collectors, not the poor sod who is in their sights, regardless of circumstances.
I've been walking around with my guts in a constant wrenching twist.
I didn't get any reply about getting a stint with the University radio station. I really would like to have at least one Extra-Curricular Activity that I'd think was fun and had lots to teach. That bothers me. I don't want to be massively boring.

The lessons and impressions of the X'mas holiday fade quickly under this avalanche of 'Deal-With-Me!-Deal-With-Me!'.
***
Halfway through Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix.
I thought the first 3 books were crap. But it's finally gotten good. And damn that Rowling! I consider a good gauge of an author is how deeply involved you get with the characters or the story, so much so, you ride every emotion with them.
This book is an example of that.
I can especially feel the constant stress of schoolwork. It doesn't help that I want to lash out violently in red hot rage against several of the antagonists in the story. Yes. it is that involving. I empathise utterly with Harry.
I held the inherent childishness against the first 3 books. But now it's surprisingly dark and unforgiving about very adult issues. I think this is Rowling's soapbox for what she thinks of such social phenomena as tabloids, bureacracy gone mad, politicians and the oh-so-human frailties of the 'wizard' race, some of whom really think they are superior, bringing up inferences to some of the vilest acts of Man in history against his own kind.
Good stuff, good stuff. A healthy hatred of 'The Machine, The Politician and The Daily Tabloid (or Filthy Lying Media Beast)' being introduced to young Potter fans everywhere.
Or maybe I'm just going too long off a short pier here...

Thanks for all the info about the pop-up blockers! I decided to go with the Google toolbar because it seemed the least complicated. (I'm not terribly computer savvy!) It's working well so far!
