Sunday was a good day. Jumped on the bike and headed to the You Yangs with Mark for some single track action. A little warmer than I would have liked, however it was great getting the feel into my legs again, or so I thought.
The You Yangs are going through a transition at the moment where some of tracks and trails are going to given over to horse riders.
No.....
What it means more single track and different areas opened up for the mountain bikers. It also means re-cutting some other trails. That's where I had my trouble. Extremely loose dust and sand.
Coming down the hill my front wheel washed out, grabbed and then flung me into the air. Normally not a problem. Sunday was different. My left foot unclipped as per standard operating procedures, my right didn't. Came down on my semi buried bike. To be accurate. I landed with left thigh on a now vertical handle bar.
Still three km away from the car park. Came off again 'cause I couldn't put any weight on the left leg. Mark was disappointed as he missed the second spill. All he saw was a cloud of dust and then me laying under the bike as the dust settled.
Me back at the car park.
So now, I have a right ripper of a bruise and a slight suspicition I may have cracked my thumb in the second stack.
The bare bit in the centre is about the size of my handle bar end. Weird it didn't bruise on the impact zone.
Close up.
Had a fantastic day. I already want to go back out.
