Haven't played music for ages, because the bands are on a Xmas break, for the most part. Have cracked out the practice pad for the first time in a while to get working on some rudiments. Totally mindnumbing boredom playing RLRLLRLR over and over is not exactly fun, but better than nothing. And admitedly, playing along to music is still kind of fun.
I have been training ~a lot~ - I have decided to become a ChessBoxer, mostly because it is such a very very dumb idea. ChessBoxing is exactly what you think it is.
Everyone thinks I am joking, but I have a boxing trainer and I can throw a ~mean~ left rip. Played chess very badly for years, so brushing up on those skills as well - totally recommend chess as an intellectual stimulant. I also have started traning blog.
Nice side effect is that I have lost like, 5kgs in 6 weeks, and suddenly am feeling all buff. Not sure if I actually look buff yet, but definitely feeling pretty fit.
My girlfriend and I are busy seceding from the rest of humanity - it's kind-of nice, actually. A lot of my/our friends are entering the early to mid 30s, and to be quite honest they are pretty fucking boring ... I think we're starting to head down a different path, most of my goals and ideals now are, for want of another word, spiritual ... and certainly creative.
I can't wait for 2006. This year has been good, but I have burnt a lot of energy working for the man. Haven't worked this hard in years, but flip-side is I did get to go to China, which was cool. Company has taken a turn for the worse and has started to suck big time - all sorts of corporate bullshit going on. Even though I am apparently indispensible and get paid a lot of money and am now also going to get shares or some such thing, what's the point? I want freedom.
