damn do i hate summer time, i can't stand the heat. i'm so much more of a fall person, cool october days are the best. i wish i could take the whole month of october off so i could be out and enjoy it. so yesterday because of the heat i didnt even really feel like leaving my apartment. so i went and got some chinese food (sub gum wonton so good) and went to video jack (if thats not the best name for a video rental place ever i don't know what is) i decided to rent urban legends: bloody mary, hellraiser:deader and a very long engagement. i can't resist a horror flick, espescially direct to video sequels to series' that have long run their course. of a very long engagement is by jeunet who makes some of the most visually beautiful films to ever grace the screen. so anyway bloody mary was your typical straight to video sequel bad cg fx, plot line thats been done amillion times and an ending that was one of the worst i'd ever seen. all that aside though it had a few cool nasty moments, but was pretty shitty overall.
hellraiser:deader now that was actually a pretty decent sequel, it really could of been a stand alone film without pinhead thrown in. he really wasn't in the film much i think only three scenes and with less than 10 minutes screen time. the plotline was about a cult called deaders and their leader makes his followers commit suicide only to bring them back to life. the one kind of weird thing they live in this underground lair type thing, and although they come back to life they're all walkinga round with the wounds from their suicide still. so you've got these people walking around down there with slit wrists and holes in their head which was kind weird. so anyway the leader of the cult wants to break into pinheads world and can only use this one reporter who can open the puzzle box and blah blah. it's decent if you're a fan of the series or horror in general. a very long engagement was wonderful, jeunet once again delieverd with images so beautiful you just want to pause the film. the story was engaing and was never boring for the entire film. audrey tatou (sp?) was great in it as she usually is. highly reccomend this to any one who is a fan of any kind of film just a great cineamatic experience. damn i hope broken flowers opens near me this weekend.
