Aww. Thanks for your kind words, guys. It was indeed a journal entry written on an 'off night', ruined by annoying company and predominantly crap music. I've decided over these past few days, Rockworld is about as cutting-edge and 'alternative' [bleh! ] as 'Burtons menswear'. Apologies to any advocates of Burton's "fantastic outfits at competitive prices..TM" Maybe I just need a break from the place? Maybe they need to spend a few bob on it so it doesn't resemble a cast off set from the Crystal maze, sprayed matte black...?
Yes. Friday, Saturday and today have all been a massive improvement. I'll give you a quick (yeh, Greg, whatever) breakdown...
---------------------------------------------
FRI: Friday was a halloween special gig night. No Use For a Name were excellent as to be expected. Bigwig were also very good indeed. I wasn't too keen on Appease, I know they're very popular in the UK, what with them being like many other US emo acts. Just not my sort of music, i'd seen them a few weeks ago at the Alkaline Trio gig... I'm really glad I got to see NUFAN on their final tour date for a while!
We then headed over to 'Voodoo' our favourite mini-venue and "hidey-hole" night in Mcr. It was a grand costume-fest which lead to much hilarity and good vibes. Packed with more genuinely nice freaks, you could ever hope to meet! I think I've found my calling, and it's NOT in cliquey metal clubs like Rockworld anymore. Besides, the two bands who were on were great fun.... You should check them out.. Smilex and The Mutts
Capping the night off, were the resplendent 'Coop' devil girls in the red body paint and not much else! Yes, it was about 3c outside too, they were both braver than I...
---------------------------------------------
Sat: I went through my friends SG application forms and sent off her set. We headed out later for a few beers and the punk room at Rockworld. Despite leaving early, it was still pretty good fun. We're taking a little break from Manchester though and seeing Zombina and the Skeletones play the Queen's Hall in Widnes next Saturday, if you're in the same hemisphere, try checking them out...
---------------------------------------------
Today? Today, I headed out to visit my best mate (from years back) in Hazel Grove to chat about his impending wedding. I started to get a bit panicky about making 'best man' speeches infront of legions of stern, blue collar engineers and bricklayers who would rather pound my face in than listen to my oddball rantings. I've been assured that this won't be the case... There are ONLY going to be a couple of Brickies who would likely pound my face in I have, however, been warned about getting roped into buying timeshare holidays from a certain shifty cousin. It should be a laugh. I wish them well... [Sigh]
I think this journal has waffled on for far too long, really. You can stop reading now...............
No, really........... It's not going to get anymore interesting than it was at the beginning. You've valiantly earned a rest. Put your feet up and stick a cd on.
Ah well, since you've come this far, I may as well finish up by saying it was nice to meet mr james_doom on thursday. A glimmer of civility in a rather dismall evening. Nice to meet you at last (off stage that is...) Good luck with RIPLEY and all your recording gubbins!
Bye for now.. Look after each other. I'm off to drool over cheap, ebay motorbikes! xxx xxx xxx v78

Rather than making use of the plant Woad, a process which is most longwinded and whiffy, I cheat and used plain old blue face paint. I must try harder next year. I'm impressed about you knocking a few years off of some codgers, no such luck here with that since the oldies hide after about 7pm in Harrow. Best I managed to do was have a bit of a bop to Manowar.
Wedding speeches are usually horrible to do. I missed doing one at my brothers wedding cos I was in the car park having a smoko with his brother-in-law. He missed his speech as well
