Why not an update at 2 in the morning...?
Just got back from a fantastic saturday amongst people who i know aand love. Firstly, up nice and early to paint the gates, me and dad built. A lovely Lincoln Green, in case you were wondering
Then, off to my friend, Menyee's birthday. Amongst my A Level student friends, who I've been in contact with most days since '94. Each one of our circle of friends will have a birthday party at anothers house. This time, menyee's was at louises, in Miles Platting. Its a very dark and woebegone corner of Manchester with some of the finest examples of neglected Victorian Gothic and Romaneste architecture in Britain. Its a shame its full of absolute firework-toting psychos. The meal was very nice, however and I enjoyed playing footy with little Marcel. He's got some kick on him for a four year old...
THEN... Rancid at the Apollo.. What a great performance!? Its one of Lars' personal fave venues in the UK and you could tell. Normally when a band name checks a venue, it's just to get a rise out of the audience, this seemed REALLY genuine! They were much better than when I last saw them at Reading 2001. The Apollo is rapidly becoming one of MY personal fave venues too! People were hanging from the upper circle and Royal boxes and pogoing like their lives depended on it. Possibly one of my gigs of the year (doesn't stop their new stuff stinking, though..).
I didn't get to see much of the support acts. Saw a bit of Stretch Armstrong, who seemed OK. Pretty slick but really samey...
Finally, a trip to good old Jillys/Rockworld. It was indeed a good night out all round. had a good chat with my tattooist mate, Christos about a multitude of possibilities for me and my cohorts. He still does a tat for a crate of Becks, if anyone is in the Mcr vicinity???
The night was rounded off by the "girl who turns me to mush" tm proclaiming that if she wasn't moving to Cumbria to be with her *beloved*, I would be an IDEAL choice, as I was "far too nice not to be attached"... It would be spanks for misbehaving if I hadn't known her for over ten years at this point, AND she'd enjoy it too much...
Girls eh? If only I could live without em (can't btw
)....
I'm going to draw this bilge to a close. I got a shedload of anonymous texts and calls in Rockworld which dont quite make sense. I'm going to ponder them and see if I can work some stuff out... No, they REALLY are odd. Quite INFORMED and 'clued in' for a random number puncher...
Take loads of care, everyone... Spread love and happiness, etc. I will get round tomorrow to appearing on a few journals. Hope you are having as INCREDIBLY COOL weekend as I am. I can't really see anything to spoil it between now and monday. [scrabbles around for some wood to touch..] Massive hugs to any and all who grace this secluded corner of the site. Beers are on me, I've found a tenner....

ps: Getting the bike road-worthy in the next week or so.. I have found a supplier of old Brit iron...
