I have been going about things all wrong. I've been wasting my time the last decade of my life. All I ever wanted was to be liked, respected, fancied. That's why I learned to play the guitar. Everybody thinks guitar players are cool right? That's what I thought. I'll just get this thing going, be a musical genius, and I'll have people knocking down my door to fawn all over me.
Man, I was so wrong. Instead of staying home and practicing the guitar (or the bass, or the drums, or whatever), I should have been out talking to people, developing a personality and social skills. That's what interests people, duh, someone who's interesting to talk to. Not someone who's pathologically shy and who can only assert himself through a 4x12 cabinet.
Nobody wants to fuck a musician. Sure, they want to fuck a famous person. You see girls swooning, and you think, "oh, it must be the guitar," but no, it's not the guitar, the voice, or the music. It's the wealth and the fame. It's because they're on TV. And hell, you don't want anything to do with someone who only wants to screw you because you're on TV. The only skills that are going to impress, charm, attract anyone are the interpersonal ones. Glibness, friendliness, self-confidence, unselfconsciousness, openness, approachability, small-talk.
So, I wasted my youth. Not only did I squander the hope for any fruit from my academic efforts, but I also seem to have spent all my social time and energy barking up the wrong tree. I guess it's a good thing I managed to at least get some quality sleep.
