Here's a drawing I did for a contest. The theme was to create a character who had to be an artist, whose talent is amplified by a magic item.
I used a picture of the beautiful and lovely @rocky as a base to the drawing. (Thank you, dear, you're the best :) )
The contest will end soon, but I may do a few variant versions (including a sexier outfit maybe...)
If you are patient enough, here's the story of the character (I apologize for the poor English ;) )
Reika was a literature student in New York. Since her youngest days she had been a reading-nerd. In her free-time, she works as a reader in schools and public libraries, reading stories to children and adults. Her deep and warm voice always mesmerized her audience.
One night, in a library, she openened an old book and found a strange strip of cotton covered with old mysterious signs. She couldn't help but take it, and use it as a bracelet.
The day after, she enjoyed the sun in Central Park, reading for the 5th time The Lord of the Rings, lying in the grass. She was brutally interrupted by a company of orcs sourrounding her. She cried out and shut the book, and the creatures suddenly disappeared. She discovered then that the old cotton strip gave her the ability to make fictional characters appear in the real world.
After a few tests, she realized that as long as she read their adventures, the characters acted like in the books, making the actions she read, but if she stopped reading, leaving the book open, the came to a proper life, and acted like real persons. They disappeared when she closed the book.
Excited and curious, she locked herself up in her Harlem flat, and spent days and nights summoning her favorite characters. She talked with Elizabeth Bennett, Madame Bovary, Hamlet, Garp and so many others, she drank with Long John Silver and had a few restless nights with Christian Grey, Oliver Mellors or Emmanuelle. She even discovered that she could summon more than one character, as long as she left the books opened near her. She organized unlikely meetings with Raskolnikov and Meursault, or Robinson Crusoe and Davy Crockett.
After a few weeks, she controlled her new abilities perfectly. She could make anything appear, and even (with a few focus) make a complete scenery appear from nowhere, changing her little room into Hogwart's hall or Little Prince's planet.
She tattooed a round door on her navel, symbol of the passage from fiction to reality.
She decided to share this ability with the world, and at first rejoiced kids with Winnie the Pooh and Peter Rabbit.
Now she will make her first public appearance in a Broadway theater. She decided that she would read Gone with the Wind, making Scarlett O'hara and Rhett Butler appear for the audience, but also civil war great battles. She has the jitters as she walks to the stage. It may be the beginnig of a new life for her, but also the beginning of troubles. In the theater room, a few secret service agents are discreetly here to evaluate her abilities. Maybe an army of orcs and dragons, spaceships and robots could have other uses than entertainment...
What do you think of it ???
