Hey Guys!
Hope everyone is well and enjoying the festive season so far. As I said the other day, things have been a little crazy lately and I have been so incredibly exhausted because of it. My sinus issues haven't gotten any better and the results of my CT scan just confirmed how bad they actually are (one of the descriptions used for one part was that my sinus was obliterated... not quite sure what that means but it doesn't sound good). I have to go see an ENT doctor but can't get in until the end of Jan, but hopefully I'll get some real answers then. All of this stuff has left me feeling pretty damn low about myself and it's been pretty tough trying to fight it, it's even been making me question being a hopeful and whether or not I'm even remotely good enough to do this. I'm really trying to push through it and my guy has been helping me with it a lot so hopefully I can get my mind to calm down about it.
Some of the recent craziness has involved Christmas parties, both work and friends; which has been good fun... except for the Friday hangover after the work one lol. Our work Christmas party was Grammy's themed which was pretty random, some people dressed up as famous musicians but mostly people were dressed up nice. It was a good night. My friends one was way more low key, we had a picnic in one of the parks in Sydney which was nice. It was the first time I'd seen everyone in a while so really great to just hang out.
Below is my outfit from the work Christmas party, I felt like a giant blue marshmallow:
Time for some Christmas blog homework from @missy, @rambo and @lyxzen
What are your holiday traditions?
We don't really have a lot of holiday traditions as a family, we used to when I was younger but not so much any more.
When I was a kid we would always open up our presents super early on Christmas morning and then head off to my dad's friends house for breakfast. We did this for quite a lot of years and it's something I've always remembered.
Even though it's summer here in Australia, we've always had a big roast for lunch even if it meant we had to sit in the air conditioning to eat it. This year we're breaking that tradition and we're going to have a seafood lunch, it'll just me and my parents on Christmas day as well so it'll be nice and low key
Tell us about the best/worst Christmas gifts you've ever received!
I've been lucky and received a lot of good gifts over the years but it's always so hard to remember them, however the bad gifts always stick in my mind.
Secret Santa is the source of so many bad gifts over the years but there's 2 in particular that stick in my mind. Now usually people have a cost limit for secret santa of about 10 or 20 dollars, this is pretty standard and you can usually get a decent gift close to that price limit. The company I used to work for would do a secret santa for our whole office, which was fine when we were small but got progressively harder as the company got bigger. The first year I was there the gift I received was a single bow hair clip, firstly it was pretty hideous but secondly it was obvious that the person had spent no more than $2 on it. I know it's the thought that counts and all that but it was obvious that there was no thought what so ever put into it. Everyone else was opening really nice, thoughtful gifts and mine was a pretty sad excuse for a gift.
The second one was a booked entitled 'Don't get tattoos before you're 30'. Now I'm sure whoever bought it intended for it to be funny but it just ended up pissing me off. The whole book was basically a list of things not to do in life, intending to be one of those funny novelty books you buy as stocking fillers but the reality was that it was written so poorly that it was just super offensive. Whoever bought it never owned up to it, but I wish they would've if they were meaning it as a joke. Maybe they just saw how unimpressed I was and voided it lol
I look forward to more shit Secret Santa gifts in future, because what's Christmas without them?
Top 3 presents for someone like me...
1. Anything cute with hearts or skulls or stripes or polka dots.
2. Anything that relates to something I've expressed a love for.
3. Anything that involves some thought on your part.
The first one is specific to me but I feel like the last 2 are pretty standard things across the board when buying gifts. I always try to find out something that the person would like, even if it's a minuscule reference.
Anyway my lovelies, this blog has ended up being longer than I intended and it's time for bed.
I'll leave you with some pictures I took today while I had a day off. Enjoy :)
Peace, Love and Polka Dots
Valentine xx
P.S It's now only 2 months until my first set Limoncello comes out. YAY!!!
