We went to see the new Exorcist movie last night. Um.........how can I say this........
I was very let down by this film. There are some great gore effects in it, but the CGI work looked likr dogshit and really took away from the film. I can't say it was scary at all either. It just tried for the shock value from the gore.
Other than that, it was a great evening. I didn't end up having to work, and we ended up hanging out with our friends Ruth and CW. We did some shopping at PacSun and went out to eat. I had a little too much to drink at dinner and was feeling very tipsy by the time we made it to the movie. All and all, a good night.
My brother may be staying here tonight. He has something to go to here in Manhattan at 8:30 tomorrow morning and being that he lives about 1.5 hours away, it would just be easier to camp out. Not sure what we will do he if does come down. Probably will end up going out.

Tombs of the Blind Dead
Todays creature feature is a Spanish film called Die Ruckkehr der Reitenden Leichen, which translates into Tombs of the Blind Dead. Also included in the dvd is the sequel called Return of the Blind Dead, but I prefer to pretend like that movie doesn't exist.
Anyway, back to the Tombs. It revolves around members of a religious cult from the middle ages called the Knights Templar. While in the Far East, the Knights learn many black rituals which they bring back to control their region. Eventually, the townsfolk rebel and slaughter the Knights. Fast forward to around 1960. There is a strange curse on the town. The Knights are now among the Undead.
This is a fun movie. For being a low budget horror flick, the effects are very well done. There is wonderful mood and sets. The movie is only available in Spanish with English subtitles, and that is a plus as far as I'm concerned. I hate dubbing with a passion.
If you rent this movie, be sure to flip the disc over and give the sequel a watch. It is dubbed (badly) and seems to try and rewrite the first film. You will gain respect for Tombs because of how bad Returns turns out to be.
