my bleeding heart
Current mood: confused
coming storm
we see the clouds building in the distance
we know it's coming
yet we just can't seem to get out of the way
running for shelter
we realize all to late, their words meant nothing
a house built on lies will not stand
with nowhere to turn
left on our own to figure it all out
where do we go
from here, what do we do
now with no shelter
how are we going to make it through the coming storm
malcontent
scratching, clawing, bleeding, beating
against the wall until my bloody fists go numb
you still don't hear me
you've never cared
so, why should you now
take it back
i don't need your favors
take it back
it's never to late to cut it clean
it's never to late to sever
the ties that bind us together
just one whisper is all it takes
just a whisper becomes a scream
and when that scream becomes a nation
what will you do then
perhaps then you will hear
hopefully it won't be to late
in vain
sacrifices made
lives thrown away
only doing what they were told
taken before their time
thrown into harms way
a prematurely exteguished flame
i'ld like to see you tell the families
look them in the eyes
expalin to them how their child is gone
died in vain in you war of lies
how can you sleep at night
knowing what you've done
and your buddies upon the hill
the blind leading the dumb
nevermind the voice of those you lead
nevermind the voice of those left in need
your ignorance isn't bliss
it's brought only pain and death
driven by greed
back then
simple times are long lost
fairy tales faded away
above our heads hangs a thread
and from it's end a sword
to slay all our dreams
replace them with nightmares of the world today
wake up, get dressed, take a number and stand in line
make sure you don't forget
to jump before you look
there's a suprise at the bottom, inside
sometimes i sit and wonder where it's gone
that childhood laughter that used to fill the air
replaced now by the broken heart and battered minds
the struggles of a greed infected society
the games we used to play into the night
forgotten in our minds, scarred by reality
don't ever forget your dreams
bring the laughter back before it dies
don't let them tear you down
remember who you are inside
don't let them tear you down
and now we all have bills to pay
no time left for what we loved
we're all older and we put it all behind us
traded it in on rank and file
the knocking that you hear is the reaper at your door
hope for something new
i've been lost for so long
i can still remember that look in her eyes
it's burned into my brain, the mistakes that i made
and now it's just another night alone
i am nothing to you
nothing more than second rate
just a second class citizen
nothing more than a fly on your plate
now i'm back where i started
a hollow fealing in my heart
thoughts left resonating through my mind
the reverberation has been catastrophic
this isolation i hope will pass
the time has left falling away
the doors have closed the room
left empty with nothing to hide
cracks left in the surface of the fragile
glued back into place never the same
but you have to heal and move on
hope tomorrow is a better day
