Not necessarily. If the artist is trying to convey two extremes, then the maids need not be pure.
The color of the sky is due to refraction/diffusion of light.
The definition of you all depends on perspective.
As for ghost in Pompeii, depends on if you believe in ghosts and what defines a ghost. Are ghosts defined as being the person or an interpretation of a person? Are they a reflection of the atmosphere? From a religious standpoint (specifically Roman Catholic), it's based on a form of purity...those that aren't as pure as the lily might have to spend time in purgatory wandering around as ghosts.
