So the first ex-girlfriend wedding was classy but outside in the hottest heat wave in June ever. It was a quick ceremony (13 mins) but the reception was outside too so more sweaty sweaty. It should have been the perfect weather weekend but Richmond alas has no real seasons anymore.
My long ailing grandfather finally passed Friday the 13th. 86 years 8 months to the day. It is a sad thing but a good thing. He was ready to go for some time and he is no longer suffering. So I'm still a little sad but so happy for him. Here is a pic of him from 1945 when he was in France serving in the Army during WWII.

The funeral was very nice and we got to learn some new things about him from friends at the wake. The minister and her we close so the funeral had a very personal feel to it. And damn if that country gospel can't still provoke an emotional response from me.
So on to last weekend and the second ex-girlfriend wedding. This is the one I was looking forward to. And I really mean that. Mary Jane was my college girlfriend. She was also one of my best friends and still is. Her husband is an awesome guy and they are so good together. As I told her family they are just so better suited for each other. And I am so happy for them. I was just beaming as she walked down the isle. Also I got to hang out not only with 3 of my best guy friends but friends she went to school with while we were dating that became my friends too. I hadn't seen these people in about 2 and 1/2 years. It was so much fun. All the different groups of people I met through her just vibed so well and it was so much fun. So far it was the highlight of the summer.
Also this month I got a job offer from the Dept of Health for a job I was very interested in but there would be an increased cost of getting to and parking at work that I don't have now. My department matched the offer so I'm with the ABC Board a bit longer but with a raise that went into effect Wednesday which is also my 5 year full time anniversary date. I am not vested in the state retirement system. Weird
So overall things have been good. Busch Gardens with Onyx23 was great and can't wait to go back. How is everyone else's summer?

I did really well I think, I'm totally over him and I think this girl is real good for him...still cried a teeny tiny bit though.
