Pictures ahead!
1) There is a Jason Mraz concert tomorrow. I've been looking forward to it for months, but now my friends are flaking out on me. Should I go anyway? (For those of you wondering, despite his mediocre radio hits, one listen to any of his live music is evidence of the guy's extreme musical talents!)
2) I saw Super-size me in Atlanta this week. The release is very limited, but you MUST go see it if it's playing near you! It was as fun, disgusting, and educational as I had hoped. For those of you that haven't heard about it, here's the premise: 1st-time filmmaker Morgan Spurlock decides to investigate the fast food industry while eating nothing but McDonald's food for 30 days straight. The rules:
-He had to eat three entire meals each day for 30 days.
-He couldn't eat anything that wasn't sold over the counter at McDonald's, even water or vitamins.
-If he was asked if he wanted to Super-size, he had to do it.
Over the course of the experiment, three doctors document his heath changes. The results: shocking and disgusting. Anyway, go see! Now! Or ninjas will raid your butt!
3) On the subject of documentaries, Michael More's new flick, Farenheit 911, has been picked up for distribution in almost every country EXCEPT the US now, because of pressure from the Bush family.
4) I've been thinking a lot about what to do after graduation. Although for awhile I gave up hope on it, I have a renewed interest in going back to Japan for a year. I miss it, and even though I know I will be sick for the US once I go back there, I want to spend more time in that amazing country! I also don't know how I'll ever be able to afford design school with all the debt I've accumulated, so I think being in Japan would give me the time I need to start studying on my own.
5) My cousin is getting married Friday in North Carolina, so I'll be gone next weekend. Events like this always remind me how long it's been since I've attended church, since I have no dress clothes anymore. Luckily, our cute new Thai hostess wore something tonight that gives me an idea! Now to find it...
Pictures:
Every day when I walked to Kyoto Eki, the enormous transportation hub in my city, there would be millions of these on telephone poles and traffic control boxes on the corner across from the station. New ones EVERY DAY! The businessmen waiting to cross the street obviously thought I was really bizarre for photographing the sex ads!
This is one of the rice fields that cover the countryside. The water in sits so incredibly still that the field look like giant pans of clear Jello with plants growing inside!
Questions (if you made it this far )
1) What would you ultimately like to be doing as far as work goes? Is what you are doing now putting you on track to get there?
I want to design furniture and clothing. Seeing as I'm pursuing a sociology degree with a Japanese minor... no, I'm not on track.
2) Tell me one thing about you that your parents don't know.
My dad doesn't know about my disgusting level of debt.
3) I would like to get a facial piercing, but I've gotten some mixed reactions when suggesting specific ones to people. What piercing do you think would suit my face?
Now how can I answer that?
4) What 2 colors do you wear most often?
Black and hot pink, probably.
Phew! That was ridiculously long! Now that you've made it through, check out this fun thread: SG Survivor
