The next scene was my favorite to shoot. It was just me, Mario, and Nate. Pure guerilla.
It took probably 2-3 hours to shoot the whole scene. Easy!
The next scene is is tricky. It is set in a deserted location (luckily Mario knows a parking lot for a park that is empty) And it is set at night. This is the opening scene so it has to be right.
I bought a badass airsoft gun that has a realistic kickback. it runs on CO2. It doesn't have the red tip, but it has a screw in the bottom, but that be easily covered up. Mario has made a prosthetic thumb, for the scene. (I won't tell what happens) and we go over the scene as best we can while we wait for everyone to show up.
It's nearing dusk. Luckily everyone car pools. Nate and another actor, Tim, get prepped. Another actor, Ray, gets made up to look nasty.
We take two cars and head to the lot. Only 5 minutes away so not too bad. We set up and start filming, when of course the first thing goes wrong. A battery dies. I have to go and get another one.
I get back and we resume. Nate and I keep getting frustrated with each other over his acting and my direction. This will never be resolved.
Another battery dies. Again I go. More time wasted.
It's getting past time I thought we would be done.Another 1/4 to go.
Ray is supposed to be menacing, he looks it, He doesn't sound it.
We get to the part where the gun is drawn. Nate wants to go method, he pulls a real, live, handgun out and shows it to Tim to get him "motivated". Mario and me immediately have him put it away. Not good.
After that is settled, we shoot the closeup. Nate accidentally shoots the CO2 into Tim's eye. Luckily he is fine.
It's way past time for Tim's other engagement. Mario takes him back to get his car. Mario takes a long time getting back.
I do double duty as camera and audio operator with mixed results. Mario gets back. We finally finish.
We get back. it's past 1am. We help put the equipment back before we call it a night, or morning. In the back of my mind, I know I have to be work at 6am. FUCK.
All well.
