The new script is finalized. I put the scenes where they go, and make up a new scene to cover our ass where a big gap would be in the film. Mario organizes a new production meeting to discuss the new shooting schedule. Five scenes. Five days. Stuff I have never done, or thought I could do. Easy right?
We meet at a pizza place called Mama's. I was late due to traffic and my skill at always being late out the door.
The meeting and the pizza were excellent. Toward the end, we had to figure out where to shoot a scene set at a coffee shop or any public hangout spot. I suggested this place, it had a nice decor. So my Associate producer J.P. talks to the manager, and they allow us to use their place as a location.
The day arrives and we set up. Now, our crew on the last set of filming was excellent. This time however, everyone was scattered, and hard to wrangle to do their jobs. First, instead of setting up, everyone was getting pizza, so I had to set up the set myself. Then our designated boom mike operator wasn't doing a good job capturing audio. Then our camera lenses got water drops on them, and I tried to clean it off, but of course there was still a droplet on it, and of course that was a pain in the ass in post.
The shoot I thought would go by fast started spilling into dusk, and we were still doing closeups. By that time it was really just me and Rob my camera operator, shooting. When we finally wrapped darkness came over. Lucky us.
After putting all our equipment away, we compare notes. We make plans for the next scene. Then everyone leaves, leaving me with a large pizza to eat. I have it boxed up. J.P. took care of the bill so I am good. I leave night making a vow to make sure everything goes better next time. But of course with this film that is not always the case.
