seeing as how its been like......a year and a half since ive been on SG, i suppose its time for an update, and yes boys and girls, as always...i brought pictures for show and tell. "where have i been" is the question that is on so many minds, so here is an update on the busy past few months.
around mid-february, i boarded a plane....
destination: Riverside, CA.
it was here that we officially kicked off training in an effort to prepare for our rapidly approaching deployment to afghanistan. the weather was quite lovely, but the food sucked.
next stop: Hawthorne Mountains, NV
i was one of the lucky few to be selected for assault climbing school, which was, needless to say, very RAD. i dont think ive ever had as much fun training as i did here. the only thing we did all day was climb rocks, climb mountains and then climb more rocks. i was in heaven.
.........and if that wasnt cool enough, as an added bonus, i got to repel off of a 110 foot dam.
(i mean, were talking Goldeneye-James-Bond-shit-here)
last stop: Bridgeport, CA
....and on our final evolution of training, i found myself sleeping in 3 feet of snow, asking myself "why do we have to recieve cold-weather training? i mean, i know the cold sucks, i dont have to be put in it to know that"
i was in hell.
all in all....it was a fun time. but ladies and gents, its good to be back in the 808 state. in the process, i have developed a new-found appreciation for the beach.
(and having my lovely new wife with me on the beach.)
my apologies go out to everyone for being a stranger for so long, but im back now, and will try to be a little more prompt in my replies. ive missed you guys, its been far too long.
oh, and one more thing.....
