although we couldnt visibly notice any changes and we told ourselves this over and over, we knew that somewhere deep within was the temporarily repressed truth that no-one wanted to admit. it didnt happen overnight, more like a gradual breaking down of even the strongest will over time. but after a while, not one of us could deny it, and would have to deal with it each in his own way that we would not return to the united states the same person as we left it. not that any of us would ever become a danger to society. we were just different somehow. detatched.
these thoughts echoed until my ears were ringing.
it has never been discussed by anyone out loud before, but i am positive that the same echoes can be heard through everyone heres head. when your medititate on it, a clairvoyance is given off. telepathic almost. you recognize that blank stare into nothingness.
"what are you thinking about man?"
"-nothing."
same response. every time.
acknowledging it was admitting it.
