My son went to day camp for the first time today and I was a nervous wreck. I was worried that he wasnt going to have fun, thaIt the other kids would be mean to him, that he would have some crazy child molester camp person take him under his wing. This is our practice run to get me, not him ready for overnight camp that is starting in a couple of weeks. He will be gone for a week and I cant visit. I MUST LET GO.
So, I had the day to myself and I of course used it to accomplish all sorts of responsible adult things that tI have neglected. Did I clean my house, pay bills, look for a job- NO! I went for 5 MILE hike and swimming all day. I went hiking at the place I posted picture of a few days ago. I want to take a really long backpacking trip in August when Daniel goes to camp, so I thought I should start to get ready. When I was driving around out in that part of the woods...I found the most interesting house for sale. It needs a lot of work and it was dirt cheap and I fell in love with it. It had so much character that I really just wanted to stay there all day. It is very close to the water and there is woods everywhere. The only problem is: I need another house like I need a hole in my head. I cant even afford the one I have, which is why I am making it in to a duplex. The house I live in now is huge and I keep saying the next house I buy will be a little tiny house. This house is anything but tiny. I called my wonderful realestate agent and she sent me all the paper work and is taking me out there in the morning. It is two bedrooms and 2300 square feet of needs work. I LOVE a challenge. I could rent out my whole house and buy this one and live in the country....I could say goodbye to Frat parties raging all night in my neighborhood and Latino music bumping down the street and my kid could actually have a yard to play in....Anyway, Here are some pictures:
As you can see it needs a lot of work. It used to be a old church school house in the 1800's.
I also applied for a new job today working with troubled kids, doing project adventure sort of stuff, working as a liason between them, home and school and assisiting them in getting back on the "right" path. It would be a fun job and of course it pays shit...but it would be fun. I will let you know if I land an interview.

At the end of next week I'm heading to Montreal for fun. Life isn't all bad.
