well... poverty wasnt really the case when india broke away from britain, or when the us broke away from britain, or when ireland tried to break away... but yeah, i do agree, not so much basic commodities, but a basic standard of human rights, ironically developed during the french revolution. a right to say in how one is governed... could we call that a commodity?
