I should be working, but I am to tired to force myself to do paperwork this evening!
Clearly, adapting the ancient skepticism of Pyrrho and Sextus Empiricus to modern life is a major concern of mine. Unfortunately, the lack of certain conceptual tools stymied their development of a subtle skepticism.
I have been working on such a skepticism for ten years, and I am beginning to feel pleasure at the results.
Still, the key is to live the philosophy not think it, and this can be hard. I know that the more I live my ideas, the happier I am, but there are subtle traps I fall into time and time again. For example, the temptation to formulate unwarranted generalizations pulls me in time and time again. Furthermore, it is these unwarranted generalizations that cause me the most emotional pain. I am so tempted to make unwarranted generalizations that sort my experiences and shut down possibilities that don't fit into the categories established by the generalization. A vicious circle.
Tomorrow is another day, and who knows, maybe I needed this failure to think more clearly next time.

I think the temptation to formulate unwarranted generalizations pulls us all in from time to time. The trick is to realize when it's happening, something I've often struggled with myself. ![wink](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/wink.6a5555b139e7.gif)
