For the slow season I have found myself surprisingly bussy. I'ts actually realy weird. Anyone know if the planets are all lined up or something? Cuz if so we should likely be doing the ritualistic sacrifices and mystic rytes and stuff.
Anyway. Tonight was a bit of a training and orientation thing for us riggers. We kicked a bunch of children having hockey practice off the ice at the Brandt Center (Agridome) and practiced what we do for a few hours. We got some rookies and sent them in to the air. Watched them like hawks and gave them pointers on everything we could think of. Made fun of them when they screwed up. Taught them the creative names for the ground riggers (Stuntys, Land Lubbers, Clips, Slugs, Ants, You lazy ass holes on the ground...) and generaly got the new bloods up to speed in a relaxed environment. I wish I had been presented with this. When I learned it was on shows. That means learn fast or get thrown out. Realy. It was nice to do something I love withought any pressure for once. I found it... Refreshing... Yeah that's the right word. I think I earned a lot more respect from the old boys club too. I'm 20 years old and I've got 40 and 50 year old riggers, vets of 25 years some of them, asking my oppinion on the best course of action. On top of that they took my advice on most of these things too. Today was a good day.
So on that note who's going to the nickleback concert next friday. Hope you trust me... It's gonna be my work holding all that gear in the air.
