for those who missed this on OC CL...
On "gang bangers" and "gang banging"
Seems like anywhere I go these days I hear about "gang bangers" who are out "gang banging." It is on the TV, the radio, in the newspaper and even on Craigslist.
Now, maybe I'm stupid or a pervert, but when I think of a "gang bang" I think of 3 or more men having rough sex with 1 woman. In fact, there is even a subgenre of pornographic cinema dedicated to this kind of activity. There are films with titles such as "Sofia: A Gang Bang Fantasy," "Gang Bang Darlings," "The West Coast Gang Bang Team," or the classic "Itty Bitty Titty Gang Bang." So I'm definately not alone in this definition. Sometimes, more adventurous film-makers switch the genders, and you wind up with 3 or more women having sex with 1 man as in "Rocco's Reverse Gang Bang."
Interestingly, when John Beard and Christine Devine talk about "gang banging" on the Fox11 News, they're not talking about this. They're talking about street gangs. Or, as they were known back in the day, "gangsters." Okay, I get that "gang bang" rhymes, but is the catchiness of a rhyme scheme so tempting that you have to use terminology that's been established to describe extreme sexual activity to the public at large? What's next -- we'll start calling suicide bombers "Blow Job Kings" or we'll call women who bake pasteries "Creampie Honeys"?
I once asked the waitress at Olive Garden if she wouldn't mind "tossing my salad" and all I got was a dirty look. Maybe I should have asked if she wanted to meet up for some "gang banging" instead.
