David Cross is the new Messiah....I just picked up his Cd, funny as fuck.
So today I met this painter, Kerry James Marshall today, and the cool things is we waxed about comics for a bit, and I was surprised how on his shit he was. He kknw lots of shit, and all these people just crowded aorund listening to us, and my painting professor told me later, that they were guessin g who fuck I was, because maybe I was ome big name local artist, and they said Britto, and Gomez, and all these other fucks, and I just thought it was absurd.
Either way, it was cool that we tlaked about how fucked, BLACK comics are. Like alot of the superhero stuff and even and maybe he didn't know this, but outside that owrld in comics, is white dominated. I mean even the powers, what the hell is left for a guy to do. If you make a Mexican guy, whose storng, with say as hield, he's fucking spic Captian america. We talked about the Milestone stuff too
and it fell in the same shit too. Then
we talked about the "stage." The stage is the pane of the work how you set up the work and art, and how i works and such. It was jsut really cool tha tthis guy who studied Giotto and argued about the Venetian vs. Florentian painters, saw that comics, which is an American artform like Jazz, propels forth into so many things and he digs it himself. Even his latest work is sequential art, so it was cool to meet somebody like this.

Boom, boom, boom, one things is going off my list and another gets on. I wish I would stay awake for four days just to get it all done.
Smoking may be bad for but a smoking gun is worse.

But there isn't much to bring a minority audience into comics as kids, I don't think. Therefore there are few minority creators. Like you said, any super-hero is just a copy of someone else--the black Superman, etc.
I wonder if race has anything to do with why Marvel can't seem to sustain a successful BLADE series--do the white kids who read Marvel books not want to read about a black character? I think the Crew was recently cancelled, too. Not that any new books at Marvel are doing well these days.
