Jeez, has it really been three months since the last time I updated my journal?
I've been keeping pretty busy. Trying to help my best friend find a decent house that's sort of nearby so we can do the whole neighbor thing. He's living with us now - just like he has for the past 6 or 8 years. I gotta admit it's kind of cool getting a rent check every month instead of having to make a rent payment, but at the same time, since I don't have a morgage payment to worry about, I'm not in the position where I really need the extra cash. It ultimately comes down to which is better, an extra chunk of spending money once a month, or having your privacy?
This time privacy wins.
So I'm helping him find a decent place. There are all sorts of predatory loaners out there and I'm trying to make sure he gets a cool pad, but at the same time doesn't end up getting caught up in a 30 year payment fiasco that he can't afford if he changes jobs involuntarily for, say, getting tagged on a random drug test or some other such stupid bullshit.
Other then that, what else is new... not too much. Looking forward to Spring so that it doesn't take forever to move around in the snow. This morning it took me something absurd like 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to work, which is a 20 minute drive when it doesn't look like Jack Nicholson's last scene from the Shining out.
Been spending a lot of time gaming. There's a surpise, I'm sure. The latest flavors that I'm immersed in for 5 to 6 hours a day are Rome:Total War and World of Warcraft. Started back on the treadmill/lifting weights thing again... ugh. I might start doing creatine cycles again come springtime if I'm still into it.
Work blows some days, and is awesome others. It's too bad I can't find a happy medium. I've been instrumental in some pretty big deals lately but I'm just not happy with it somehow. I feel that I'm sort of squandering my talents as a vendor and that I should get back into IT as some form of data monkey instead of peddling high end routers and servers. I should probably start looking here and there.
Guess that's about it for now. I'm going to make a concious effort to not wait 3 months betweeen posts anymore.
