I went to Ireland over the holidays to hang out with my sons (who live their with their mother) and got some great pics of Roscommon Castle- it really gave a perspective on how huge some castles were back in the day, and it's always interesting to see structures that are older then my home country (United States).

For perspective- I am 6 foot tall so that doorway is easily probably 10 feet tall.
Those holes in the wall is where the planks for the floor would have gone, so that would be the 3rd floor would rest.
That bottom hole would be where the planks would have gone for the second floor (supposedly, I am NOT a historian).
That is the "murder hole" supposedly where if you invaded they would dump boiling oil, or fire down on you...
