So after losing my job-of-ten-years due to corporate downsizing, i received a decent severance package. Three days later, an offer by the same company to work for them again, but three hundred kilometers away in my hometown.
Decided against it, in favour of packing my shit up and moving to Spain.
I know only one person there, with whom i'm not terribly close. The economy is on the verge of ruin, supposedly. Obtaining a work permit in the EU is notoriously difficult for someone without a university degree. Oh yeah- i also have only a rudimentary understanding of the Spanish language despite having lived in NYC and the DC areas for most of my life.
Still, why not? Taking up a summer or year to backpack through Europe and return home to "normalcy" is rather acceptable, but as much as i love New York- its time has passed for me. The character of the city is undergoing a transformation, and i find myself looking to its past more often than to its future. If the future in Mlaga is any more intriguing, then i will stay there. If not, the planet is a rather large place- perhaps the future somewhere i haven't considered yet will be even more exciting.
In the meantime i will be back in Morocco for a bit while getting things finalised. This should be fun.![biggrin](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/biggrin.b730b6165809.gif)
