It's been a bit of a bad week.
Started with my cat getting sick. Then the stress at work built to such a point where I didn't have the energy to work out at all. Then yesterday, the Vice President of my company's computer crashed while I was installing a program on it. So I stayed till nearly midnight working on fixing the thing, and have to go back in today (Saturday). Normally it would only take me a couple of hours to rebuild a computer from scratch, but this takes longer, because he has 40GB of data on his hard drive that isn't saved anywhere else, so I have to transfer that back and forth without losing any of it. I'm just lucky I can retrieve it at all.
Then I got home, and my other cat (the one that wasn't sick) was waiting for me on the front porch with an injured leg. He was walking on three legs, but didn't appear to be in any great horrible pain or in danger of dying, so I kept him warm and called the vet in the morning. I was worried it might be broken, but instead it's been bitten by a neighborhood dog, and swelled up as a result. The vet gassed him under and then treated his wounds, draining them, and gave me more torture pills for later. These we won't be able to get out of.
On the way to the vet, my car started stuttering, and the engine light came on. While the vet was working on my cat, I took my car in to the mechanic, who diagnosed it with needing a large sum of money being removed from my wallet (as if two vet visits in one week weren't enough), and several more hours of being carless. I had to walk back home very carefully, so that my cat didn't get bounced around in his carrier too much. Luckily it was only four blocks away. He's still pissed at me, of course. And once I get my car back, I have another full day of work waiting. It might stretch into sunday.
I feel a bit like Jonah, stewing inside a whale, trying to figure out where I went wrong. Only Jonah had more of a clue than I do...
