My cat is getting better now. Still weak, but starting to get his energy back. The theory is that he ate something he shouldn't have, and got food poisoning. I took him to the vet, and they stuck him with needles, including injecting liquids under his skin to rehydrate him. There was a cold buldge in his side afterwards for awhile. They also gave me pills to torture him with. They warned me these pills taste particularly bad (like they do tastes tests or something) so I was to dip them in jam first. Didn't help. These pills disolve into sticky goo the second they encounter saliva, so they don't go down the cat's throat, he spits them out and it's almost impossible to pick up again, much less try to get any more down him, and my cat is left with a white froth foaming from his lips. After my first attempt my weak little kitty fought tooth and claw out of the blanket I had wrapped him in, scratched my hands (which he never does even in extreme circumstances) and ran away to hide under the couch. And these pills are supposed to calm his stomach, by the way. After 3 more failed attempts I got permission from the vet to discontinue them. Instead I'm supposed to keep him on a strict diet of cooked ground turkey meat, which he absolutely adores. I'm never going to get this cat to eat dry Pro Plan again...
