Okay...new year, new update.
"Streetwalker: That's my 1930's term for 'whore.'"
Anyone know where that's from? Winner gets $20 and a punch to the jaw.
So I had a variety of things I could have done on New Year's Eve. Could have went down the shore to see Brian Setzer in AC (had it not been sold out) Could have went to my friend's house and hung with some kids there. Could have went to Dave and Buster's with some friends. Could have went downtown and paid $75 for all you can eat and drink. Could have went to the R5 thing at Transit.
I took the road less traveled and drove three hours to see the Pietasters in DC at the 9:30 Club. Totally last minute. I got out of the shower and my friend called me to wish me a good nite and she said what a drag it was that she couldn't make the show.
Anyway, I hopped in the car and sped down there. Made decent time. Got a cherry parking space right in front of the club.
Made it in time to see one of the opening bands. Drank three pints of Boddingtons, a Guinness, an Anchor Liberty and two shots of Jack. In that time I met some really cool kids from VA. Some dude gave me some dirty looks, but oh well.
Got separated from them, drank another Bods and then the Pieguys came out. They played for a solid two hours, and not the standard stuff. All sorts of B-Sides and rarities. Great cover of "Time Won't Let Me," "Same Old Song" and my favorite "I've Been Hurt."
I was up front all night and provided cover for some girls at the stage. Once Maggie May started up the crowd rushed the stage and this British guy grabbed me and pushed me up there. I ended up grabbing onto this girl in the crowd and pulled her up too. I looked over at Andy, the stage tech for the Pietasters and he just laughed. Looked back at Toby and he just laughed.
After the show some kids and I went to some crazy pizza place in DC that sells slices for $4. But the slices are seriously the size of half a pie.
Enough of a rant. That might have been the coolest show I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot of cool shows.
All-in-all the best NYE since two years ago when my buddy and I had a four-way rumble with these two girls we know. Ahh...good times.
Happy Freakin' New Year Fuckers!
