So here I am, sitting at my new desk, and as mentioned in my profile, going gray, bald and insane way before my time.
This whole process of putting out a newspaper has just been a gigantic task. I knew it was big, but didn't know it was this big.
Matters are compounded by the fact we've moved into a new office with new equipment and what not. On Wednesday I finally got an internet connection. Still waiting on a phone. Baby steps to get things done.
The kids who work with me are a hard-working, enthusiastic bunch. A few trouble makers here and there, but nothing I can't handle.
There is one though that is a thorn in my side. Can't remember if I've mentioned her before or not, but there's this girl that went away to Europe for a semester and missed half a year of work at the paper. Since she left, things here have changed dramatically.
Before she kinda ran around like she owned the place, giving everyone hugs and being loud and really prevented people from getting their work done. Now that we're publishing twice a week we need to be on task and on time.
She doesn't get that.
She also doesn't get that I'm the boss now and I run a tighter ship than my predecessor.
A little background: she and I were two peas in a pod before she left for Europe. Best friends. Loud, brash, flirty. Very flirty.
But nothing ever came of it. Now that I'm Mr. All Business, I'm the bad guy. Kinda get the impression that she thinks I'm bitter that nothing ever happened with her and I. If she were my girlfriend, I'd still be trying to keep us on task.
Part of her problem is she's attention starved. Always wants people to notice her and what not. Argh..
So I've got this paper to work on, hockey season to prepare for, school work to take care of. Frankly I don't have time to waste.
Which brings me to my sincerest apologies for not posting or replying to many journals lately. Once I get settled in at the paper things will get better, I promise.
Ran into my ex on Wednesday morning...yea...what a fun day Wednesday was. Spent a majority of it doing paperwork, listening to my special Morrisey, Cure etc. mix. Yea.
