It figures that I'd be posting on Thanksgiving. Finally a day where I'm not required to be somewhere, doing something, etc. Sitting in front of a computer screen virtually all day at work isn't all that of an attractive concept when applied to the little free time available when off the clock.
So that's why my posts are few and far between.
That and I'm not sure my life is that interesting to vent about online. This Twittering, livejournaling, myspacing is just information overload. Who am I to let people know every time I have some wasabi almonds as a snack?
Besides, there is nudity to be had on here.
The beat goes on in the office. We had another reporter move on to greener pastures this week, leaving the rest of us scrambling to get more stuff done. The girl who is leaving basically filled the paper with bullshit no one really cares about, so I could focus on making my stories better. Now I have to make up for her absence.
We have 24 towns in the county and...three reporters to handle them. Yea, that makes sense.
Still trying to find a better job myself, but there's just nothing out there right now.
Then there's hockey. Had a real close brush a few weeks ago in which a player's stick came up and nailed me in the eye. It caused a small gash which required three stitches and gave me a pretty good black eye. Somehow I can still see. Thought I was in a real bad place when it happened.
Fortunately the injury didn't keep me from any games. I'll have 30 of them by the time Jan. 1 rolls around. My best start to the season yet.
Came home from NY on Sunday and managed to hit a deer with my car. Heading southbound on the PA Turnpike I watched one Bambi leap over the 5-foot divider...then another...then another. Smash.
Driving in the left lane, I hugged the barrier as best I could. That third deer stuck its landing midway through the lane right before I hit it. The poor thing went flying across the other lanes and onto the shoulder and ran away. Right before we came together, I tapped the brakes.
Had I not done that, chances are it would have came down right on my hood, windshield or roof. Kinda scary when you think about it. A deer kicking me to death through my sunroof would not have been a good way to die.
There was actually a kid who played in my league a year or so ago who had that happen to him up north.
Anyway, on the bright side, there is turkey to be had today. Lots of it. This is the day I've been waiting for and turkey can't wait any longer. It's the second Turkey Day without Dad. Kinda strange still. Debating whether or not to take his seat.
Just me, my mom and my sis. I'm thankful most for them. We'll get through it together again.
Hoping whoever is out there reading this has a good day too.

I took pix of the snow, not while driving. That causes accidents.
PS. I didn't see your comment about your hockey game in Trenton until I was already back up here, otherwise I totally would've come! Let me know if there are any coming up around the time of Christmas, bkz that's when I'll be back in the dirty-dirty.
You might be in Boston? Sweet. You'll have to let me know when, and if I'm around I can play tourguide
