After months of waiting...
COMIC-CON REGISTRATION for PROFESSIONALS was finally made available today.
There I was working on a fine art gallery promotional invitation in my office when the much anticipated email appeared on my computer monitor. I'm a graphic designer for a fine art publishing company with a license to sell Disney fine art - it's the graphic artist and the Disney part of my occupation that makes me an eligible professional in a comic book-related field by the folks at Comic-Con. Having said that - one of the primary perks to this is a courtesy professional event badge. If that wasn't enough a free guest pass is also made available in addition to kids getting in free and discounted rates for multiple guests thereafter. Sweet right?
At least that's how it used to be for the most part.
I was taken aback to find the email claimed that Registration opened at 1:00 PM TODAY - The clock in my office read 12:15! Good Lord! That only gave professionals approximately forty-five minutes to wait until they would be allowed to enter the Comic-Con registration section of their website. Never had a registration email been sent within an hour of actually being able to register before. The guys at Comic-Con weren't playing around this time I suppose...
Sure enough right at 1:00 PM I was logged in using a unique member ID provided by Comic-Con several months earlier and set to add the guests on my list. Once in I was shocked to discover only three additional guests would be allowed to me this year! The free guest was still in place but the kids 17 and younger get in free was no longer available. In addition the remaining two guests had to pay FULL price to be let in. No ifs-ands-or butts about it. This really sucked donkey balls!
Can you believe that? Needless to say I had no fun having to inform a couple of friends they wouldn't be able to join me at Comic-Con this year. Grrr...
Now how do you like that? If I wasn't such a nice guy I'd kick somebody... or at least knock'em down!
Anyway... So there you go... It really sucks how much the cost of everything I really enjoy keeps skyrocketing out of this world. Somebody get me the winning numbers to next week's lottery m'kay? Thanks!
love,
