I finally realized that I have been making excuses for myself for too long. I decided within less than a year from now, I WILL be living in East Lansing and going to cosmetology school. I need to stop wishing for things to change and making them happen. I am trying to take steps in that direction. At work, the residents and most of the employees have been plagued with this terrible rash. It's getting worse and worse and has been going on for a long time. I had it, and gave it to my boyfriend. Many of the employees have voiced their concerns and the administration has taken no action as of yet. I wrote up a petition urging the administration to take action and a gal from work typed it up and revised it a bit. We have been passing it around. So far, we have gotten A LOT of people to sign it. The administration claims it is flea bites, but how do you pass flea bites on to another person? I went to the doctor and the doctor gave me a scabies treatment. I used it and the rash is pretty much gone. The problem is, we are not unionized, and everyone knows that this girl and myself are responsible for the petition. I am kind of scared we are going to get in trouble!!! If this situation is not adressed soon.... I'm getting the fucking health department involved. And if I get in trouble, I will be certain to take legal action. I really don't want to get on anyone's shit list but this is fucking ridiculous!!!!!! I guess that's the price you pay to stand up for others. I'm sorry but I believe that the residents have the right to live in a rash free environment!!!! I realize that working in a nursing home you WILL be exposed to all sorts of nasty shit, but it's reaching almost epidemic proportions!!!
