So, yesterday crazy boss lady got fired, today, I need some advice. Already I have been asked to take a little more responsibility, if I weren't moving to Australia I would now be trying to wheedle my way into the manager job, as it is I leave in may. I have not yet told the area manager that I am going (that would be a crazy amount of notice for a retail assistant to give imho) but now I feel I have to level with her because she'll need to find a manager and a full timer in a very short space of time.
What I want to get from this situation-to be an acting manager, possibly to get some more money however I would forego the more money for a good reference as a supervisor/manager role to take to Australia. How do I get it? How do I announce that I'm going? I have no issue about doing the work but I want the recognition for it, if im going to put on my cv that i've done a managerial/supervisory role I need a reference that will back me up. There is extra incentive to get this reference because companies are able to sponsor you for up to 4 years if you are a manager or supervisor but not as an assistant, also, I'm very ready to take the step.
Have you ever been in a situation like this? How did you get the best out of it?
HALP?
(the only issue is that my old mangers incompetence has made me look a wee bit stupid by association so I need to make sure that area manager knows I am very capable of doing th job, oh, and the petty cash box is missing but I am unsure as to how much was in it, the float is incomprehensibly up and I do think manager bought the box but this is a concern, I now need to disclose this to area manager tomorrow but do not want to alarm her as I don't know that we're actually missing cash. It also had all the petty cash receipts in there which I think they need for tax reasons and to prove we aren't nicking it. what a mess)

then say "uh... slight problem"
you'll be being dishonestly honest, and as long as you neglect to mention the dishonesty bit, you'll be grand.
