I hope everyone has a great 4/20!
I've been watching the news and the trends from afar. And after thinking about it, I'm pretty sure our country is heading for a civil war. If the government tries to take firearms from people in the U.S., I'm pretty sure there is going to be complete and full out civil war. Especially because Texas thinks they're going to secede from the Union. I think that the new administration is taking on too much too soon, and they are going to cause major rifts to form amongst US citizens.
I think that the Tea Parties have a point, and that they are airing their protests and concerns. I don't think that the media channels are representing these people in the proper light. Why were the people that were calling GW Bush the next Hitler not called non-American or un-Patriotic? I don't agree with what Bush did, but there is such a double standard in our country, and an uneven representation of the populous in the media. Everyone is either a Left-Wing Liberal Hippie or a Right-Wing Conservative Facist. There is no representation of the people caught in the middle, which I believe is a larger portion of the population than you might think.
I think that people believe too much of what they see on television and it's sad. No one formulates their own opinion anymore, they just buy into whatever John Stewart or Colbert report on Comedy Central.
I believe that with the current political atmosphere in the states, we are no better than extremists. Everyone is so fanatical about some cause nowadays that you risk being beaten or verbally abused for expressing an opinion different from these fanatical, extremist activists. Even if their cause is against violence. It seems you cannot even have a civilized debate or discussion about a topic without offending someone. Everyone just needs to set their egos aside and listen to the "other side".
I miss my dog, my family, and my friends. I wish I was back in the states right now, but only to visit, not to stay. I cannot wait to go to Japan, I cannot wait to go to Pohnpei this Summer, I cannot wait to get my new camera. I'm impatient, blunt, and uncouth. I wouldn't change for anyone.
Good night everyone.
