So Goodwill rocks it hardcore! I got some cool stuff for $20!! I love it. Going to see Lords of Dogtown tonight, finally!! Going with Bisa and Smessy and Smessy's co-worker Dave who seems cool. I'll give you all y official review of the movie later, for now I must clean........
Katie's Awesome Movie Review of : LORDS OF DOGTOWN
So, I went into this movie with some insider knowledge of who the Z-boys were and what Dogtown was like back then. Not because I've seen the documentary "Dogtown and the Z-boys" (Which is a great documentary) but because my cousin who I lived with in L.A. skated with those guys mostly Jay, and Stacey. He also skated on a team against them. So I've heard all the stories from the horses mouth.
I digress. I went into the moive with an open mind. The first thing that hit me was the music. The sountrack is definetly on my "Need to buy right NOW" list. The actors who portrayed the boys were great. You could really see Alva's head almost explode from fame and fortune and Jay's digression into a darker persona was very well done. He beats Hayden Christenson (Darth Vader) with a fucking sledge hammer as far as portraying a journey to the dark side. Heath ledger was great! as the Zephyer king Skip and I loved the cameos both by Johnny KNoxville and Tony Hawk who as I'm sure you all know skated with the Bones Brigade. Also I thought I saw the original Jay but I couldnt tell for sure. The ending tied together all loose stings which I like and although it's not the happiest ending it was definetly a little more opptomistic then the Documentary's ending. But what do you expect it's hollywood. I give it an A. and also check out the soundtrack.
