I decided to take a studio picture of my old Martin tuba - it dates from sometime in the 1930s, I think, and is a monster tuba (very much oversized) - this model was apparently designed for the Navy band for outdoor performances, with a very large bore and a front-facing bell to project better. Anyway, it's my old war horse, and I love it (though I do wish it had a fourth valve...). This was shot in my studio with five lights, five sheets of white foam-core, lots of black material (velvet and felt), and almost every light stand I own (some holding lights, some propping up foam core, and some holding black felt overhead to block the ugly ceiling from being reflected!). Hope you enjoy.
In other news, it's stinking hot here. 103 yesterday, 106 today, 104 tomorrow.... (For those of you in metric lands, that's 39, 41, 40). Way too damn hot, in a long (2 month) drought and no rain in sight. Yeesh.
More later, peeps. Keep cool!
