Hello friends!
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday - whatever holiday you choose to celebrate at this time of year. Ours was quiet - just my wife and I at home, didn't even put up a tree, but it was nice to just relax and spend time together. Something we don't get enough chance to do.
The season was busy - I did my usual holiday busking, playing Christmas music on the street corner in downtown Columbia. It's a blast to do, and it raises money for a good cause. The Salvation Army does a lot in this town, running a homeless shelter (the only one that can take in whole families) and providing thousands of free meals for those who need them. They also provide rehearsal space for our brass group (the ShowMe Brass Band) free of charge, so I like to help them whenever I can. This year I played for 17 hours (mostly in 2 or three hour chunks) and was able to collect over $500 for them. Our town is so generous - it makes me happy and proud!
I also wrote a 30 minute radio drama I'm hoping will get performed on our local NPR station. A local theater group has been doing 30 minute radio dramas (mostly excerpts or serializations of plays) every Friday evening, and they are looking for additional material, so we'll see....
Not much else to report. Things are quiet here - wish they were a little less quiet, actually. Hope this all finds you well as we head in to 2012. Are you ready for the zombie apocalypse?
