It's official - America's popular culture is going down the goddamned toilet. Why the FUCK do so many people care about American Idol?
And WHY do so many of these new hard rock bands suck so badly? Christ, the Donnas have more balls than these clowns. Whiney, whiney lyrics. Lame, soulless vocals that sound like freaking commercials. It's infuriating.
And movies! Everyone was so freaking ga-ga over the Ring, despite the fact that the acting completely blew goats (I have proof), and the characters were shallow charicatures. But the Exorcist's BORING, I'm told. Fuck you all.
All the whiney peacenicks love to act all ashamed of our country, based on its foreign policy, but I'm FAR more ashamed of this country's current cultural situation. And that INCLUDES hypocritical punk rockers who bitch and make fun of other American cultures as being conformist. Guess what? Take a look at your own alleged culture. I swear, there are so many ridiculous unwritten rules and alleged standards. "Oh, so-and-so's a poseur. Oh, so-and-so's favorite band isn't truly punk anymore, they're a bunch of sell-outs. Oh, so-and-so's style is overdone." CONFORMISTS!
And don't even get me STARTED on the whole Rockabilly thing. How many times has everyone heard the following: "Oh, so-and-so's not REALLY Rockabilly. They just want to be part of the scene!" CONFORMISTS! What do YOU care how many Horton Heat albums Billy-Bob has? And if he just likes the look....so what? As great as some of the music is...it's just music. It's not a goddamned way of life, no matter how much you try and convince yourselves otherwise. It's music and fashion. Period.
Hey! Kinda like that whole 'Punk' thing.
Of course, there are plenty of easygoing and non-judgemental punks/rockabilly types, I'm sure. And good for them! But let's face it - how much of this self-righteous and judgemental crap do you see every day, just on the SG boards alone?
And I'm sure someone's going to think I'm a hypocrite for acting all self-righteous about people being judgemental, after I just bitched about other people's tastes in music and movies. But guess what? I feel that way because it's my actual opinion, not because I think people should conform to a specific set of standards in order to fit a speicific stereotype. I may hate a lot of current bands, but you'll never hear me accuse them of being 'not truly Punk' or whatever. And you'll NEVER hear me claim that someone doesn't truly belong to their chosen little stereotypical category.
Basically, I'm just sick of all of the tribalistic bullshit and needless labeling. Dress how you like. Listen to what you want. But quit imposing these idiotic rules and standards. True open-mindedness and enlightenment do NOT come from labelling people and things.

I like the DVD extras when they interview the "stars" of III. The interviewer keeps asking them questions, and the people are acting like, "Why the fuck are you dwelling on this suck film for so long?"
My favorite scene: The sped-up machete wielding Zombie. The rest was funny, just to see an island of Zombi Filipinos.
I think I'm dwelling on it too much..... I'm out.
