The teal blue duck hit the road, buzzing like a fallen kite. It's stubby blue wings were clipped short and its tattered feathers were jutting up like orange flames in irregular fashion. I heard it quack with a distorted caution-yellow beak. It sounded more like the clacking of two twin engines- clearly the rutter was broken. Its webbed feet stood out as it skipped across the floor like a discarded cherry pit. Poor little duck, I thought, its butt is too narrow to prevent it from falling over. Somersaulting forward, tail feathers over tea kettle, there was a final loud smack as it came to a stop. With one quaky leg it stood to find its ground. Round and round it spun dizzily until it regained its balance. Looking at it quizzically, I watched it spread its wings defiantly as if to say, "I'm still here! I'm not going anywhere!!"
